PATIO FOUNTAINS

REMOVING TRAFFIC NOISE AND CREATING SANCTUARY IN A SMALL PATIO

This small patio design and installation had a few simple parameters. The client did not want to take care of a lot of plants and did want to cut down on the noise from the street.

  • The view of the patio corner with furniture.Large fountain pots on either side of the patio area break down the traffic noise from the nearby street.
  • Mexican beach pebbles in one fo the fountain containers.Mexican beach pebbles sit just below the surface of the pots. Water flows down all four sides to the basin below.
  • The patio at night.Lighting up the exterior vegetation plus underwater lights create a lively space in the evening.
  • Rows of fountain containersThe minimalist nature of the fountain pots does not compete with the interesting patterning in the wall.

It was immediately obvious that the plants outside of the patio walls offered plenty of vegetation without using the planters inside the patio area. In the existing patio planters we installed a series of pots as part of a water feature that would drown out the sound of the nearby traffic. Underwater lights were placed to uplight the splashing water and animate the space in the evening. We added a custom size table and outdoor loveseats between the fountains to create a comfortable seating area.
